Hi, My name is Jacqueline Braithwaite FRSA.

I am the former Head of Design in FE & HE at Berkshire College of Art and Design-specialising in administration, development of design programmes, facilitation and curriculum development and pastoral care for students at all levels of ability.

I'm a highly-skilled professional in the fields of Design Education, The Arts & Disability Accessible Design Research, in addition to which, I'm a Fellow of The Royal Society of Arts-FRSA, a body for interdisciplinary social change and a member of The Chartered Society of Designers.

I'm also a practising sustainability mixed-media artist, a fashion and textile designer/illustrator, and a disability and design advocate, with a strong presence in the Bristol Arts & Heritage Communities. As well as exhibiting at The Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, the Arnolfini, and the Designers Guild and the Walcot Chapel Arts Space in Bath, my work now forms part of the permanent collection of artefacts belonging to Bath Preservation Trust and Fairfield House in Bath - via the 'Object in Focus' & ‘Our Tower’ Project for Beckford Tower. I’m a member of Beckford Tower’s Community Advisory Board in Bath and a Community Researcher on Brunel’s SS Great Britain in Bristol.
I’m also a Trustee and Advisory Board member of numerous organisations in the West Country including Knowle West Media Centre, Clevedon YMCA and Bristol International Jazz & Blues Festival. I am also a member of the Square Club, the longest serving private members club for creatives in Bristol.

I have experience of supporting a wide range of people old & young, with & without a range of complex disabilities, SEN and working with local communities, through education, creativity and design, exploring and expressing lived life experience and reaction to local historical environments creatively.
I’m passionate about complex issues about sustainability, diversity & social inclusion through the exploration of creativity and the development of innovative ideas for Neuro-diverse, sensory aware, hidden disability, positively physically & differently abled audiences and their stories.
